This week was one that had great and not so great moments. I really enjoyed the spirit that I felt this week though- it was really powerful. On Tuesday, we had a great district meeting where Sister Van Heel gave us insightful training on our purpose as missionaries. She related it to us and how we need to recognize how important the atonement is in our lives, so we can effectively teach others. So, she asked each of us to share. I can't respond to that question without having an extreme love for the knowledge of eternal families. The atonement of Jesus Christ made that possible. The spirit as each missionary shared how in their own lives the atonement affected them was so powerful. We also, on this day, made contact with a referral that a member gave to us. There was a bit of interest, and she gladly accepted a Book of Mormon.

On Wednesday, we were lucky enough to see Brother Soloman, and he is just as good as always. He was either not taught all that well, or he is just very forgetful. He is very old, so we give him a break. Also, we spent some time with Chea's son, Kai. He has autism, and he just loves the missionaries. Chea texted us and said Kai was really missing us, and we are now going to set aside at least an hour each week to visit and teach him. He has not yet been baptized, and Chea is so excited that we get to teach him beginning this week. On Thursday, I spent the day with Elder Thompson on exchanges. As district leader, it is my responsibility to spend a day with each elder in the district and make sure they are doing well. Elder Thompson is a Spanish elder, so being in his area there was a lot that I just didn't understand. We had a great day together and even found a new investigator. I wish it was for my area, but, hey, every soul is important!

On Saturday, we had a great breakfast with the Hotzinger's. He is a returning less active member, and his son just got the priesthood. It was very nice to have some great fresh homemade breakfast. Then that night we were invited by the stake to attend the Saturday night session of Stake conference. It was all about missionary work. President and Sister Hobbs spoke, and the other speakers were fantastic. I expect after that, we will be getting even more support from the ward in our missionary work. Sunday's session was fantastic as well. It was dedicated to the temple. The temple is such an amazing place where the spirit is the strongest it can ever be. Also, we have a less active member we have been working with a little bit who out of the blue showed up! It was such a great message for him to hear. Hopefully, he will be able to go to the temple sometime soon himself. Elder H and I are working our butts off to get the work going. As of late, people have been hard to catch and lessons are few are far between. We have been finding a lot and talking to everyone on the streets.

Scripture of the week is found in Helaman chapter 3 verse 35, "Nevertheless, they did fast and pray oft, and did wax stronger and stronger in their humility, and firmer and firmer in the faith of Christ, unto the filling of their souls with joy and consolation, yea, even to the purifying and the sanctification of their hearts, which sanctification cometh because of their yielding their hearts unto God."

I thank you all so much for your prayers. They are so well received and appreciated. I love you all very much for all that you have done to shape me into who I am today. You are all the best! Have a great week.

Love,

Elder Thelander

Oh, and my email title. Laziness took over, so we threw all of our dishes in the dishwasher and didn't have any dishwasher soap. So, we used just a little bit of dish soap. We got ready for bed, then when I went to get a little snack, the dishwasher was foaming and lots of water was leaking out. It was pretty comical. The photo shows the suds... look on the floor behind us.
