This week was fantastic. On Tuesday we had a great last District meeting with that group. After that we headed over to the Thrift Shop and helped them out. It was crazy busy for them. Their warehouse was stocked full, and I washed all of their incoming dishes for two hours. It was a good time, and we were very happy to help- especially on their busy day. Then we took Tavoi, a 17 year old from the ward, out with us for a while. We met and talked to Jay, a really cool sports fanatic. So, we talked sports for a while and then taught him a lesson. He really liked it and invited us back. So, we got him as a new investigator. This last 6 weeks we had the goal as a zone to find 60 new investigators which for Upland is unheard of. But, we had faith and it happened! And Jay happened to be number 60. We also taught Floranette who just got back from Louisiana. She loves us, and she gave us some Crush soda, peach flavor. It was amazing, and they only sell it out there. It was a treat. Then the Spencers, who are awesome, fed us at the park- BBQ style.
Wednesday and Thursday were good days as well. We had a couple of good lessons, the coolest being with Brian. He is back on the radar, and we will meet with him weekly. He was busy with work, but now is free and willing to meet with us. So that was a great miracle getting Brian back on track. Thursday, we spent the morning with Japhet helping him move. He is probably as of now driving up to Utah. Sad/okay to see him go. He needs a fresh start. We taught in the evening as well Brother Reed. That sweet old man is so loving and kind to us. If we ever have a bad day, it seems he sends us a great little text that picks us right up.
Friday and Sunday were the days where we got news about transfers. So, on Friday we got news that Elder Parry would be leaving the area, and I will be staying in the area. So that was that- super surprising news. Then, Sunday while at dinner we got news of who I would be with, and where Elder Parry would be going and such. So I am now with Elder Mitchell who was actually Elder Parry's last companion. I am super excited. He seems like a great guy. What I know now is that he is from the Vegas area, loves music, and plays the banjo. Elder Parry is now in Ontario. Not all that far away. I'm sad to see him go. We really got along well, and we together got the work going in the Upland area. Sorry that this is short today, but transfer days are a little crazy. But, before I end, I have to tell you that same Spencer family I love and always talk about had us over Sunday evening later just to chat and say good-bye to Parry. They love Star Wars. So with some of their props we got some amazing pictures I will send next week (they were taken on Elder P's camera). I love you all so much.
Scripture of the week comes from 3 Nephi 11, verse 38, "And again I say unto you, ye must repent, and be baptized in My name, and become as a little child or ye can in nowise inherit the kingdom of God."
Love,
